Should Everyone Homeschool: The Surprising Perspective

Homeschooling has seen a dramatic rise in recent years, growing from around 2 million homeschoolers in the US in 2014 to over 4 million in 2023. But is it really the right choice for everyone?

In this first episode of The Homeschool Perspective, hosts Lisa Yvonne, Rachel Figg, and Ally Adair-Chung delve into the myriad benefits and challenges of homeschooling. Through personal stories, expert insights, and honest conversations, they explore the customizable nature of homeschooling and its transformative impact on family dynamics.

Why Homeschool?

One of the standout benefits of homeschooling, as we discuss, is its ability to provide a personalized education tailored to each child’s unique needs and interests.

As we share our stories, you’ll hear what brought each of us onto this homeschooling adventure – and whether or not we think it’s actually for everyone!

In this episode we discuss:

  • Adapting your child’s education to fit your child (and not the other way around)
  • The value of sparking curiosity (and how Rachel does this at home)
  • The impact of homeschool on relationships and dynamics within the family
  • The challenges and realities of homeschooling (it may be a bed of roses, but those roses sometimes have thorns)
  • Handling the pressures of society
  • Addressing special needs and accomodations
  • Finding joy in the process
  • Discovering not just your child’s passions, but your own
  • …and so much more!

We share it all openly – and how we each began our journey and learned what was right for our family and our homeschool. We’ll also share some things to consider as you make the choice for your family, too.

Remember: By listening to your instincts and understanding your family’s unique needs, you’ll be well-equipped to make the best decision for your children’s education.

  1. I learned so much during this episode. Especially loved how you decide what to study and “park” somewhere or brush over and make sure there is an understanding but deep dive into other things. And the learning styles – that is a huge reason we decided to homeschool our youngest. Can’t wait for the next episode!
